ITC Assays

ITC is a solution based assay that measures the heat released or absorbed as the result of a chemical reaction. One component of the reaction is contained in a temperature-controlled cell, then the binding partner is gradually titrated into the system. When binding occurs, heat is either released or absorbed. This heat change is directly proportional to the amount of binding. ITC assays provide a complete thermodynamic profile of the interaction of molecules free in solution and provides a complete thermodynamic profile of the interaction, including: Binding stoichiometry, Binding Enthalpy (ΔH), Entropy (ΔS) and dissociation constant (KD). The biggest advantage of iTC is that the binding is measured under a label-free in-solution condition.
