Two-Electrode Voltage Clamp Assay


The TEVC platform is used for assaying channel activity in the Xenopus oocyte expression system. One of the major advantages is that there is no need for the generation of a stable cell line and the oocytes are relatively cheap and easy to maintain. This is a low throughput platform most suitable for confirming hits or for use in lead optimization. Both voltage-gated and ligand-gated channels can be tested in this system.
